Marius’s initial career was as a primary school teacher, which he did with energy and dedication for seven years, in both the United Kingdom and South Africa. However, his heart has always been with the law and he decided to enrol for a postgraduate LLB at Stellenbosch University.

Whilst completing his articles and being admitted as attorney at the High Court, further education beckoned, and Marius completed his thesis for a master’s degree in mercantile law at the University of Pretoria on a part-time basis within 18 months – a real accomplishment when he thinks back now. The subject of his thesis was ‘The impact of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and related legislation on typical lease agreements’, a topic that is still relevant today. Marius’s focus was on residential lease agreements, and today most local rental agencies refer evictions and the collection of rent to MSA. The firm has a no-nonsense approach to debt collection, and specialise in evicting defaulting tenants.

With his LLM in the bag at the start of 2013, Marius embarked on firmly establishing his own practice. Experience and the journeys he had completed helped him to have a very clear vision of what he wanted to be as a lawyer in his community: A world-class legal organisation promoting access to affordable and professional legal services.
